Coats To Invest In
With colder temperatures arriving about a month or so later than normal, it’s time to give winter coats - that have been languishing in the depths of wardrobes - an airing.
The foundation of a great cold-weather wardrobe is a good coat or possibly 2. Ideally one smart and one more casual, styles that keep you warm, fit well and can be styled with ‘almost’ everything else in your winter wardrobe. Opt for styles that will last a couple of years or longer, as It’s not an item you have to change up every year. Lasting well isn’t always about the price, it is also down to how you maintain them. I always advise dry-cleaning as we go into spring and store away until Autumn.

Wrap styles
The most famous of all wrap styles is the camel Max Mara - a true classic. If a camel is not for you, try a long line style or opt for a pop of colour to wow every year.
Tailored
Look like you mean business in a sharp tailored coat. If you want to show off a waist go for a nipped in waisted in style. For oversized tailoring the Jigsaw maxi coat comes in several colours and has been a best seller for the past couple of years and still going strong.
Checked
Checks come in sizes and colours. For warmer skin tones opt for brown beige tones, for cooler black and grey is better and those wanting to stylishly stand out opt for colour.
Quilted
Wearing a quilted coat doesn’t mean you have to look like you're off to partake in country pursuits. Wear smarter versions to work and more fashion forward styles casually.
Shearling
One of the best things about a shearling coat is that most of them are reversible - 2 coats in 1! This is a coat to keep for years that will always come in and out of fashion. Store neatly away if you don’t feel like wearing one year and remember to waterproof real fur versions.
