Key Fashion Looks For Everybody
Every year the fashion industry rounds up the trends for that coming season, with magazines, blogs etc highlighting anywhere between 6-19 trends! It can be somewhat confusing for the reader. Unlike decades past, fashion now is not a set of regimented clothing styles for all. The trick is pick out those that you think will suit your personality, budget, body shape and lifestyle. For example, the ‘Naked Dress’ is being touted as the next big thing, which is ridiculous and totally impractical as only movie stars, influencers and models can wear it or indeed have somewhere to wear it too.
Below are my top 5 fashion trends we can all wear. You may even have many elements already in your wardrobe.
Mini Mania
I’m aware many of you will be overjoyed that finally after the past couple of years, there is an array of alternative shorter tighter choices to the oversized midi dress that has dominated social media. Invest or unearth from your wardrobe (I’ve found a fair few leather minis during wardrobe edits over the past couple of months) in a leather or tweed mini skirt. Pencil skirt length also a great option.
Biker Chic
Did it ever go away? For many this is and always has been a wardrobe staple and you may not want/need to invest in another style. If you do though, how about opting for another colour (khaki or off white always looks contemporary and edgy), a longer length, or added detailing like fringing (a key detail found in many trends), zips, straps and studs. Whichever style takes your fancy, this off duty model staple is set to dominate.
Bright Sparks
Life especially after the past couple of extremely trying years is too short for endless neutrals. Programmes like ‘Emily in Paris’ and ‘And Just Like That’ whilst not mentally taxing are hugely popular for the visuals the fashion and the one thing both have is common is that the outfits are riot of colour. Dopamine mood boosting colour – it’s never been more needed. Even just in a pair of shoes or adding a colour pop handbag to an outfit.
Y2K
A firm favourite as a whole look with my under 21 clients wearing crop or scarf tops , body chains and lower waist flare jeans and the over 21’s adding touches like fur trim jackets and wider leg trousers. Think Britney and Christina Aguilera at the turn of the century, but with slightly higher waist jeans. Nobody needs to see your underwear popping out again!
Boy Meets Girl
I must admit this is one of my favourites as I am a sucker for a blazer and wearing it with everything. Masculine influenced tailoring meets feminine pleated, full or tulle skirts/dresses has been bubbling away on social media for a couple years. Its finally bubbled onto the catwalks and of course a favourite look of Sex and the City’s Carrie Bradshaw.
