How long have you been styling online?
I started online styling clients when I first diversified from being a fashion designer for brands such as M&S and Zara into personal styling in 2014. Back then it took a while for the online service to take off, but my instincts told me I should persevere. First it was mainly used by clients in rural locations. If you were holidaying in Ibiza, but lived nowhere near the shops, it was the perfect solution. Online styling ticked along quite happily until then first lockdown, then it took off. Now many clients regularly ask for a mix of online and in person styling.
What do I receive?
Based on your style requirements, tastes, and budget I curate a range of outfits for you in a downloadable style guide. Accompanying this a link document taking you straight to the product, with size suggestions. Most women run across 2-3 sizes and depending on the style and brand I suggest the best size for you to order. In some stores where sizing isn’t consistent (for example Zara), I may ask you to order 2 sizes.
How do you know what will work for me online?
The vast majority of the population think online clothes shopping is a very hit and miss affair, where most of it has to be sent back. So how do I make it work?
I’m also a fashion designer and a designer can go from an idea in their head, sketch it up, work out how to make it, ending up with a garment for sale. The final garment has to appeal to a brand/labels clientele. In order to make sure pieces sell a designer has to get into the mindset of a brands typical customer and this is without ever meeting them.
My online styling works along similar principles and this time I get to meet the customer! After you have filled in a questionnaire, followed by a phone/zoom chat. I have a very good understanding of what will suit you and can visualise how a style, colour and fabric will look on you. Occasionally the website photo doesn’t truly represent the garment, if this is the case I suggest an alternative.
DO I have to Give you my measurements?
The answer is a resounding YES!
When it comes to womenswear, sizing is all over the place and a size 12 in one brand can be 5cm narrower or wider compared to another brand. Which depending on the 5cm being bigger or smaller, would make the other brands garment a size 10 or size 14. Without measurements the margin for error is too high.
What happens if I don’t like it?
With new clients a common response is, ‘oh this isn’t what I expected’, swiftly followed by ‘but you are the expert, so I will give it a try.’ The looks I have curated for you are based on my creative instincts and 2 decades of fashion industry experience. Have faith my looks will work for you and don’t make any decisions until you have tried the garments on as an outfit.
I ask that you order garments, as the difference between seeing the clothes on you, to an image on the page is huge. You will only form a true opinion once you have tried on the garment. If then it doesn’t work I suggest an alternative.
Do you buy the items for me?
No, I’m only one person and logistically I am not be able to do this.
The bottom line
My online styling service saves you time and money, reduces the garments carbon footprint and makes you look amazing!
