Introducing Paola An Always Stylish Client
Paola was one of my clients who received a personal styling gift. I first met Paola 3 years ago when her husband bought her a Wardrobe Review & Half Day Personal Shopping package for her 30th birthday. Since then I have styled, Paola on numerous occasions for work, weddings etc. She in turn introduced me to her mother and sister who I have also styled.
Paola contacted me for a quick high street shopping session as she had started a new role, as PR Communications Celebrity Manager for Haven House Children’s Hospice. A role that requires her to raise money for the hospice by organising events with people in the public eye. She needed a wardrobe that works as hard as she does. Her brief was a fashionable capsule wardrobe with an edge. That would be suitable for a working week that included, the school run, work and could be easily glammed up for any charitable events she was running.
Paola has a petite frame, so the best place to start was Topshop. Who has in my opinion one of the best petite ranges on the high street. They don’t do anything clever, just great main range styles but smaller!

Personal Shopping: Topshop
Zebra print is still on trend and looks great in this black/beige fit & flare dress. Team with a petite leather jacket and lace up boots or trainers for the day. Add knee high heeled boots in a light beige or white for a contemporary evening feel.
Next up a dark green fitted high neck jersey dress with a side split. This also went well with the leather jacket and lace up boots/ trainers. Create an evening look by adding strappy high sandals and a blazer.
We then went for a couple of slighly smarter looks that can also be dressed up or down. Add knee high boots and gold earrings to the dress. Barely there sandals and gold necklaces, or a black blazer and cream pointy boots dress up the trouser outfit.
Personal Shopping: Zara
Next stop Zara – as the shops are full of sale items, you are quite limited on new product and this doesn't really change until the last week of January. I research the shops before each personal shopping session and had decided these were the best for Paola for this timing (Saturday 12th January, Oxford Street, London).
Our first outfit was something Paola would have never even considered before, but when trying on loved it. Knitted co-ords look expensive and be easily mixed and matched with other items. As Paola is petite a mini suits her best, but if this were for me (Size 10, 5’ 5”) I would have gone for a midi pencil skirt. Sheer black tights and hiking boots for an edgy day look, or knee high boots for a sixties take.
Next up the co-ord jumper with check skinny trousers, showing how easily you can mix and match. If you are not in the mood or find mixing colours difficult, pare back with a black roll neck (one we bought in Topshop). Which can also be worn with the co-ord mini – capsule!
Keeping with the check trousers, for a smarter look add a black high neck as pictured from Topshop, black blazer and red ankle boots. Dress down with a red jersey top, shearling biker jacket and lace up boots.
All items bought by Paola (current styles) can be mixed and matched to make numerous outfit combinations. With the shearling biker jacket worn on its own through winter, changing into the leather biker for warmer weather.
